5/14/2020 - FRENCH 101
Persistent problems with the domain @lompocschools.org have created enough problems that I must modify the final. Thee following changes will take effect:
1) All Google Meet meetings on the syllabus are suspended and all students will receive full credit for the meetings.
2) Student will use [email protected] as their principle means of contact with questions and concerns.
3) Students will use a PRIVATE EMAIL ADDRESS for the duration of the class.
4) Q&A meetings (https://calendly.com/serrano-charles/q-a) must be made with a PRIVATE email address where I can send meeting links.
5) The final will be significantly modified and will be open book and open note. You will have internet support but the rules regarding translators will be in effect. A full list of parameters will be given on May 20th.
6) You will have a 5-day window to take the final exam starting Thursday, May 21st and closing at 11:59pm on Monday, May 25th. To prepare for the final, please use the Prep for the final as your guideline.
Please contact me if you have any questions bur remember to use a private email and to use [email protected].

5/13/2020 - FRENCH 102
French 102, the final exam will take place in 5 parts called "tasks"
Task 1 - The Cultural Comparison
Task 2 - An Email Response
Task 3 - Quickwrites
Task 4 - Pronunciation
Task 5 - Grammar
Because LUSD Email communications are currently unreliable, providing students with a secure testing environment using GoGuardian is advisable (it uses the @lompocschools.org email as a login). Therefore, the exam on all 5 tasks will be open book and open notes with internet support.
It is important for student to note that if I suspect internet translator support, the section of the exam using translator support will count as a zero. This is not a translation class.Your work must reflect your level and it is completely within my discretion as the teacher to decide on your level based on the course materials and and my experience with you as a student. This will be your only warning on the topic and there are no retakes.
Task 1 released Thursday, May 14th on Canvas
Task 2 released Thursday, May 14th on Canvas
Task 3 released Monday, May 18th on Canvas
Task 4 released Monday, May 18th on Canvas
Task 5 released Monday, May 18th on Canvas

During this time, students should feel free to ask me questions about the final using [email protected] (this email seems to work consistently) or, by using this link to schedule an appoint to talk.https://calendly.com/serrano-charles/q-a

I am in the unenviable position of announcing that for a 2nd time, the LUSD @lompocschools email system has failed. This has created inequity among the students in terms of access to Google Meets and correspondence around online meetings. Under other circumstances, I would extend deadlines to allow for time to repair the system and to reschedule. However, we will be in finals week in 9 days and this is just not enough time to organize and reschedule 6 events for approximately 110 students combined in French 101 and French 102. The assignments in question have received full credit and are now visible in Zangle, the LUSD on-line grade book. Both French classes have up-coming Google Meets (French 102 are not posted yet) and these will remain on the calendar. These meetings will likely be rescheduled if needed because they have to do with the final exams. We need to remain flexible for now.

What I thought was a glitch now looks like a more serious communication error with @lompocschools email accounts between in and out of network communications.
Until, it get this straight with LUSD IT services, all links will be listed here on this page as an announcement starting tomorrow, Monday, April 27th.
